Cherry, Birdseye Maple with spalting, Paduak beading, Paduak & Curly Maple inlay. The cherry is FSC-Certifed. I felt the striking maple board in this piece was a bit too narrow all by itself for a hall table top, so I paired it with a curved, slotted back of cherry that provides temporary storage (for mail, photos, etc.) and creates an out-of-the-ordinary visual presence. The curved top echoes the flare in the legs, the frontward sweep of the maple top, and the arching grain of the front apron.
