Yoshimi Table
Cherry & Curly Walnut. The clients wanted a low coffee table with two levels. The corner pass-through in the top is a visual connection to the lower level and a play on negative space. The wide walnut panels are captured within the cherry frame and allowed to expand and contract towards the middle. The name occurred to me after realizing the flared legs reminded me of the cover art for a great Flaming Lips album. The name also reflects the Japanese influences I drew upon when designing the table. 28 in. x 47 in. x 19 in. high. Another view here.
